More transitions

As if we didn't have enough change going on, Tony the Toddler started in the toddler room this week. He's a big boy now. Can you believe it?! He begins his day in the toddler room, then goes back to the infant room after lunch for his nap and to hang with his old cronies for the remainder of the day. Sometimes he gets to play with the toddlers in the afternoon, but only if there's water or jungle gyms involved.

We start day #3 tomorrow morning. It's getting better. Day #1 was rough. Tony wasn't quite sure what to think of his new digs. He didn't know anyone (actually, he does, but he doesn't remember), and Sonia and Jodi are not there. He stood in the hallway, looking at the room, huge tears rolling down his face, shaking his head and saying, "nooooo." Well, that was almost enough for me to have to work from home for a day, but we persevered. It took a couple rounds of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and one round of "Single Ladies," but Tony finally sat down for a breakfast of sausage patties and banana. (I have to provide a breakfast for him every morning now, so I packed a special one of his favorites for his first day.) The report at the end of the day read that Tony felt "sad." Sigh.

Day #2 was today. There was no crying this morning, but still the head shake accompanied by loud, "nooooo." After a few minutes of that he washed hands (on his own!), sat down for breakfast, looked at me and said, "bye. bye." with a wave. Well, ok then.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow he feels at home in his new room! Change is hard. Especially if you are 1.5.

Here are a couple pics from his first day:
