Tony has been sick. Like really sick. More sick than I have ever seen him. Poor kid. He looks pathetic and probably feels worse. The diagnosis: ear infection(s). Definitely in one ear, but probably in two. He was put on medicine, but that takes a bit to kick in, so it's been a rough couple days. When I woke him up on Monday morning, he clearly didn't want to get up. I got him ready, but when I sat him down to put on my coat he hung his head and started crying. Not the screaming crying that I hear so frequently, but a wimpery, painful cry. I couldn't do it; I couldn't bring the poor kid to daycare. It broke my heart to see him like that. He would be sent home anyway. I worked from home for the morning, while Tony slept until 11am. Grandma Mary came over to take the afternoon shift so I could go to work. He took another 2.5 hour nap in the afternoon. He was really sick. By the night, he was starting to perk up, but still not totally back to himself. Today, he went back to daycare and the teachers reported that he did wonderful. It seems like the medicine has taken effect and we are back in business. Wrong.
Tony is cutting 4 teeth. Three molars and one eyetooth. Those are just the ones I can see. He is beside himself. I looked in his mouth and the whole thing looks like it's throbbing. Again, heartbreaking. This poor kid is in pain from the neck up. I loaded him up with Tylenol and Orajel. Finally, he was able to calm himself enough to go to sleep. This kid needs to catch a break. We appreciate any and all prayers for it to happen soon.
