I don't know how one little person can produce so many fluids - snot, poop, vomit, drool, pee. The past weeks have been doozies for all of the listed. Vomit and snot have been the two main problem children. Vomit: laundry's best friend. For the past few weeks, Little Tony has not been able to hold down his milk. Some days worse than others. When picking him up from school, he is usually in different outfit. As are his teachers.

The outfit he was wearing when he came home.
After going through all his clothes at school the teachers gave him this. |
He does not have a milk allergy, or reflux, or any other medical problem we know, so why all the regurg? After talking to Sonja, our favorite teacher (and now our hero), we think we have it solved. As we all know Tony is quite the eater. Seems that he has quite the powerful suck, too. So much so that he requires a vented, medium flow nipple on his bottle. That seems to have fixed the problem! (And, reduced the amount of laundry we do on a daily basis.) We are also giving him gentle formula just to make sure we keep all food on the inside.
The snot has been the worst of the fluids. It clogs. It drips. It runs. It makes baby feel terrible. I have become very adept at the bulb syringe. Tony even smiles a little when he sees it. He knows it's going to come to the rescue and let him breathe again. Yesterday, things finally came to a head. Tony was sick. Fever and all. Luckily, Grandma Mary took him for the day so he could recover since school was
not going to happen. He was very needy and did not want to be put down. Period. I went to pick him up after work and he seemed to be doing better. True to form, he smiled through the illness. There's a lingering cough and still plenty of snot, but a day later and he is nearly back to his old self.

Another milestone hit: The young Tony sits in his own big boy chair!
