First Father's Day Weekend!!

It was finally here. I was looking forward to it more than Mother's Day - that's right - FATHER'S DAY!! So exciting! Better than a birthday. I asked Anthony what he wanted to do for the big day and he casually said, "Oh nothing." Ya, right.

Father's Day started on Thursday night. Anthony guessed what I got him, so there really wasn't any point in waiting to open it. Gift #1: Virbram Fivefinger Shoes. Look them up. Yes, they are weird. We know that. Gift #2 Anthony did not anticipate. Here it is:

It's a hard-bound book of nearly every picture Anthony and Tony have taken together since the baby was born. I hope it's a good momento to mark the occasion.

Friday, Anthony had his first Father's Day lunch at school. When he arrived Tony was sleeping. Of course. Luckily, he woke up to participate for a while. Tony even gave his Dad a gift!

Love, Tony

Saturday we went to the Midtown Global Market to check out a new restaurant there - The Left-Handed Cook. Fantastic! Just don't get the chicken. Saturday night our friends Bob and Rachel got married. We dropped Tony the Younger at Grandma and Grandpa's to attend the reception, then quietly snuck away to W.A. Frost's for a quick cocktail and a bite to eat. It's the best patio in town and we took advantage of it on a beautiful night.

Sunday. The Big Day. It started with sleeping in until 10am. That's right, folks. TEN IN THE MORNING. All of us slept until then without waking. ALL OF US. That may have been the best gift Little Tony could have given his Dad. Once everyone woke, we went to Dixie's on Grand for their cajun brunch. Anthony calls it the best brunch in the Twin Cities. This time I would have to agree. It was great!! We got a table outside and had a leisurely breakfast. Upon our return home, naps were had by Father and Son. They woke up just in time to meet Grandma and Grandpa at Rudolph's for an early dinner. It was my Dad's Father's Day, too, afterall. After a few rounds of musical chairs (which happens more and more frequently at restaurants now than I would care to admit. That carseat is never easy to maneuver.) we had a nice dinner. The men got free beers. Bonus!

After dinner, Anthony, Tony and I went to the Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center to take a few pictures. This is where we took the maternity pictures, so it seemed fitting. We got the pictures taken just in time before Tony Minor threw up all over his father - HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!

Twins.
Contemplating using his Dad as a napkin. Note Anthony's shoulder. That was the beginning. 5 minutes later the shirt was covered.

As Anthony put it, he even got the cherry on top.

Happy First Father's Day to Anthony!
Thank you for always being patient, kind and making us laugh every day.
We love you!
