Giving Thanks

We had a lot to be thankful for this year, namely Little Tony. Honorable mention goes to: the new house. We got to combine those two things this Thanksgiving. Anthony and I hosted our first Thanksgiving. Grandma Deborah and Anthony arrived on Tuesday night. Wednesday was spent preparing, and Thursday was the day. We woke around 5am to start cooking. And by "we" I mean I got the turkey out of the fridge and Grandma Deborah did all the cooking. Wow, did she cook. It was incredible!

We had two turkeys (yes, two! One smoked, and one regular), brisket, cornbread dressing, homemade mac 'n cheese, deviled eggs, and sweet potato pie. Grandma Mary brought green bean casserole and acorn squash. Aunt Carol was in charge of the mashed potatoes. I contributed a cheese plate, bag salad, Marie Callender's apple and pumpkin pie, and vegetable turkey. Yes, I'm quite the gourmand. Grandma Margaret made romme grut. For those not familiar, it is a Norwegian warm pudding-type concoction and probably the worst thing you could eat. It's also delicious and a staple at any winter holiday gathering. There were 12 people there. Everyone ate so much that no one had dessert! That's a first. It was a wonderful day with family and friends.

So very much to be thankful for this year.
