Besides the to-die-for food, I was also completely overwhelmed AGAIN by everyone's generosity. I counted last night and we now have exactly 738 diapers. 738!! And that's not counting the diaper cake! Ms. Patty Harris needs to add that to her resume. It really is an art.
Baby shower #2 was Sunday. We didn't call it a shower though. It was a "hang-out." Perfect. This one was 10 of my girlfriends having champagne (not me, of course) and Asian food. Even more perfect. And, owl-themed.
Could it be any more perfect? What a blast! There were so many people I don't get to see very often, and will probably be seeing even less in the upcoming months. It felt almost like a send-off into the next phase of life. Maybe that was just me. I asked for no gifts at the "hang-out," but they surprised me with a different kind of gift exchange - bring your favorite children's book(s). WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I had never heard of this. Brilliant idea. I saw books that I hadn't remembered existed, and got excited to read them again - The Berenstein Bears, The Giving Tree (I will cry again at that one), Courderoy, The Pokey Little Puppy... There were also many touch animal books. These people know me too well. Maybe now Anthony won't be so nervous about me encouraging the Baby to touch live animals because he will have books intead. (Disclaimer: I will always want to touch and will try to touch the live animals. Period.) The most amazing part was that no one gave a duplicate. I don't know how that happened. I now have a full library that I can't wait to share with Baby Boy!
I was exhausted in the best way. Anthony, being the awesome person that he is, took care of putting away the gifts. I can't tell you how nice that was. The stairs are really getting difficult, so him hauling the gifts up them and letting me sleep was priceless. I also woke up to also find the stroller and the swing put together. I got a good one, folks. That's for sure.
It was a jam-packed weekend. We feel so lucky and humbled to have such support from our friends and family. I really don't know how we would do this without each and every one of you.
UPDATE: Came back to my office after a meeting to find this:
So adorable! I can't get over 1) how crafty people are and 2) how lucky we are. I have never seen a diaper tricycle before now. It's too much! Also, that brings the diaper count up to 834. Unbelievable.
