2012 so far.

The holidays are over and we finally have time to breathe again. What an eventful last couple weeks. It's hard to keep track of everything, especially since my brain and memory have gone to complete crap. I used to have a phenomenal memory. I think Anthony thinks I'm joking when I say that I have no idea what I've done with something, can't remember a key piece of information, or recall a conversation we just had. Unfortunately, it's the truth now. So, bear with me as I piece together what has happened in the past couple weeks:

1. We had another doctor's appointment about a week ago. You know you're getting towards the end when the receptionist welcomes you by name when you walk to the counter. Everything is looking good! I refuse to look at the scale now. I have no desire to see just how much weight I've gained, or really, how much weight I'm going to have to lose. No, thank you. Baby's heartbeat is great! It fluctuated between 135 and 155. Having variation is apparently a good sign? Seems weird, but I'll take their word for it. She had a hard time finding the heartbeat. Mainly because the baby is so low. Yep, Baby Boy is in place - head down, butt up. My thought, "This is not the time to be an overachiever. PLEASE just stay there for a while. We don't need a surprise early appearance." Judging by Anthony's face, he was thinking the same thing. That did prompt a bag being packed and placed in the car.

2. I fell. Yes, it happened. The dreaded fall. Luckily, it was more like a hard sit-down in a parking lot rather than a somersault down some stairs. Scary nonetheless. I was stepping out of my car. Placed left foot on ground and it kept going, leaving my right foot behind. What a jerk. Before I knew it, I was sitting in a 90 degree angle on the pavement. Nadia Comaneci I am not. This was a very unnatural position for me that resulted in deep groin muscle pull. Awesome. Thankfully, my elbow absorbed a lot of the impact. For the past few days I've been gimping around, but if that's the worst, then I'm ahead of the game.

3. Baby is moving ALL. THE. TIME. Whether it's hiccups, kickboxing, doing the 2-step on my bladder, or other Cirque du Soleil acrobatics, this kid is a mover! I've only woken up once from a sucker punch. How very considerate of him. Anthony has felt the baby move now and agreed that it is very alien.  As he says, "Something wants to get out of you!" We can see him moving on the outside now, too. As if it wasn't weird enough. I have a feeling that it is going to be like a phantom arm once the baby is born.

4. The Holidays. I have to say, Christmas and New Year's were really great this year. Very easy and relaxing. Anthony and I had a lovely time at Aunt Carol's for Christmas Eve, then exchanging gifts with my parents. Christmas Day was spent doing a whole lot of nothing at home and opening each other's presents. On that note - Anthony got me some fantastic loot! A cookie cookbook, 4 beautiful sweaters (one of which I am wearing today that has elicited multiple compliments from co-workers), 3 hooded scarves (lifesavers!), maternity underwear (my mistake for not buying these earlier), and best of all - SHOES! Yes, a man who buys me shoes. I couldn't ask for anyone better. A pair of MukLuks, fancy crocs (which may seem like an oxymoron), and fur-lined crocs. My first pair. They are AMAZING! I have worn them every day since. I keep trying to justify how I can wear them to work, but I don't think that's approved attire. Seriously, isn't he the best?! I went with a green theme for him. All his gifts were green - from a new fleece vest to the bag of M&M's. All green except for the DSLR camera. But don't think I didn't look for a green version of that one!

New Year's was a ton of fun, too. We went to the cabin with our friends Rachel, Bob, Julia and Ryan. It was so nice to get away. Everyone brought food and drinks. We played games and just hung out. Though I wasn't able to have any champagne, it was a perfect way to ring in the New Year.

So here we are in 2012. THE BIG YEAR. The year when life changes completely and for the rest of our lives. 7 more weeks until the big show, sports fans. At least we hope it's 7 more weeks...
