I took Tony to the mall last night to buy his first pair of big boy shoes. Grandma and Grandpa Dunsworth met us there, and we were off to Stride Rite (where I got my first pair of shoes. That exact store, actually). We got his feet measures first - 6.5. He was fascinated by this process, which was great because he didn't squirm even though his feet are terribly ticklish. Little Tony's feet are so big that he skipped all the beginner shoes and we were only able to select from the "stage 3's."
We selected a brown pair and a grey pair. That should cover all the clothing color options so he is lookin' fly and the shoes match whatever he is wearing.
He loved the shoes!...in the store. When I tried to get him to wear them to school today, this happened:
Unhappy. No tears, but a lot of complaints. As I find myself saying more and more often, "Get over it, Tony. It's life." In life you have to wear shoes. Welcome to the real world, buddy.
