First Road Trip

As you all know, I'm terrible about posting on time. This is no exception. Two weeks ago (I know, I know), we took our first family trip. We went back to Anthony's hometown of Kansas City to visit the Pledgers and the Joneses. It was Great-Grandma Dorothy's 80th birthday party and there was no way we were going to miss it! The one hurdle - a 7 hour car ride with a 6-month old. No one's idea of fun. BUT... true to form Little Tony was a champ!!! No fuss, no muss. We stopped twice for a half hour and that was it! He slept a little and talked A LOT. When he did get squirmy and a little out-of-sorts we brought out the big guns: The Singing Flowers. That did the trick. Friday night we spent some time at Grandma and Grandpa Pledger's house, where AP2 met his big cousins Andrew and Benjamin for the first time! Being the big boys that they are, Tony was a little nervous at first, but soon he was fascinated with what the older boys were doing and followed their every move. A little later that night we went to Great-Grandma's house. Many people were there hanging out, playing dominoes, and catching up. Tony was having so much fun he stayed up until 2:30am. What a party animal!

The next day was the big party. There were probably about 100 people there to celebrate. Music, speeches and reminiscing about family and friends. I was so happy to be a part of the celebration. Tony got to meet so many family members! He was a gentleman the whole time. No crying even with all the newness. What a fantastic introduction to the family! (We have a ton of pictures from the event, but they are on the "big" camera and I haven't been able to download them. As soon as I do, I will make sure to add them.)

We finished the weekend with a side-trip to St. Louis, where Anthony graduated from college and lived for years. First stop was the Singleton's, where we had Sunday dinner and got to meet the new love of Little Tony's life - Whitney. We all know that TP2 is a flirt, but this went beyond that. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He smiled and laughed whenever she was near. He also got upset when he couldn't see her. She's a super smart (and very cute) 5-year old; he's got good taste!

Mrs. Singleton and the famous Whitney.
That night we also got to see Keli and Shonta, Anthony's friends. They came to our GORGEOUS hotel. Tony stayed up partying again with them, but you only live once, right?

Livin' large.
As you know from the previous post, the next day we went to the St. Louis Zoo. Lunch at Blueberry Hill followed. Then, we were on the road again. Big and Little Tony slept a lot of the drive home. A sure sign of a fantastic trip!
All the excitement is starting to catch up with Little Tony.
